Account and Data Deletion in the Brick App
How to delete your account and the data tied to it, what gets deleted along the way and what may be kept.
This page describes how to delete your account and the data associated with it in the Brick app — in the mobile application and in the web version — as well as which data is deleted in the process, which data may be retained, and for how long. The developer of the App and the data operator is Alexander Sergeevich Seednov. Data processing is described in detail in the Privacy Policy: https://brick.alexforge.org/en/legal/privacy/
This page is a courtesy translation. In case of any discrepancy between the English and Russian versions, the Russian version available at https://brick.alexforge.org/legal/data-deletion/ prevails.
1. How to Delete Your Account in the App
1. Open the Brick app.
2. Open "Settings" and go to "Account".
3. Tap the delete icon in the top right corner of the screen and confirm the action with the "Delete all data" button.
Deletion is performed immediately and is irreversible. Together with the Account, both the data on the device and its copy on the server are erased; section 3 lists exactly what is deleted.
2. How to Request Deletion Without Access to the App
If the App has already been removed from the device or you no longer have access to it, send a deletion request to brick@alexforge.org from the email address used to sign in to your account. The request is processed within 30 days at most; you will receive a reply with the result.
3. What Data Is Deleted
When the Account is deleted, the following data is permanently deleted:
- your email address and the service details of the Account (identifier, creation date, session key);
- all of your Boards: names, Bricks with their texts, descriptions and lists of mistakes, completion marks — both on the server and on the device.
Only the appearance settings (theme, language, board orientation) are kept on the device: they are stored only on the device, are never transferred to the server and are deleted together with the App (section 5).
4. What Data May Be Retained and for How Long
- Deletion marks of Boards (identifier and time of deletion, without contents) — for no more than 180 days, so that the deletion reaches your other devices; when the Account is deleted, they are erased together with it.
- Server logs (IP address and technical details of requests) — kept for no more than 90 days for security and diagnostics, after which they are deleted.
- Individual records — only if their retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes; once the applicable period expires, they are deleted or anonymized.
- Depersonalized usage statistics (Yandex AppMetrica, Yandex Metrica) — contain neither the email address nor the texts of Boards; stored in accordance with the terms of the services.
5. Deleting Data Without Deleting the Account
- Signing out of the Account: "Settings" → "Account" → "Sign out" — unsynchronized edits are sent to the server, after which the Boards are erased from this device. The Account and its Boards on the server are kept, and signing in with the same address brings them back.
- An individual Board can be deleted from the list of Boards at any time ("Delete forever"); the deletion is passed on to the other devices during synchronization.
- Removing the mobile application from the device erases all of its local storage, including the settings.
- In the web version, clearing the site data in the browser settings does the same: the Boards, the session key, the settings and the statistics counter's cookies together with the record of your consent to them are deleted.
An Account is not required: without signing in, the App is fully functional, and all data remains only on the device. The same "Delete all data" path without an Account erases all Boards from the device.
